WEEKLY ENGLISH BULLETIN

MY LITTLE ISLAND CURRICULUM
UNIT: Unit 3 - My Family & Unit 4 - Playtime
OBJECTIVES:
  1. To review shapes and learn a new shape (star)
  2. To learn about the value of helping people
  3. To review and assess the vocabulary of unit 2 and 3
  4. To identify toy vocabulary
  5. To learn the song “It’s playtime”
  6. To listen and understand the story “Where’s my toy?”

TARGET WORDS AND DIALOGUES:
Bike, boat, car, paints, puppet, train

WORKING IN THE STUDENT BOOK:
Pages 28 – 33 were studied.

STORY AND DRAMA ACTIVITY:
Students listened and watched the “Where’s my toy?” story and then they role-played the story by repeating the dialogues of the characters. You can listen to this story with the Games and Activities CD. It is the story of the 4th unit.

ART ACTIVITY:
Students drew their favorite toy.

GAMES:
  1. Teacher places the flashcards on the board and numbers the cards. Then she chooses a number and students say the object corresponding to that number.
  2. Students close their eyes and teacher turns one or two cards back. After that, students open their eyes and try to guess the closed cards.
  3. Teacher gives one shape card to each student. Then, every student introduces his shape by saying “I’m a (blue) (triangle)”
  4. Teacher calls out a shape and an action. Students having that shape follow the instruction but the others should not follow it.
  5. Teacher calls out a color and students having the shape of that color raises their shapes.
  6. Teacher puts the cards on the floor and closes the cards. Students try to remember the places of the cards.
