MY LITTLE ISLAND CURRICULUM
UNIT: Unit 9 The Weather
OBJECTIVES:
1.
To identify weather vocabulary in pictures
3.
To listen and understand a story.
4.
To learn new language structures
5.
To role-play “A funny day” story.
6.
To practice listening comprehension
7.
To practice speaking skills through daily routines
TARGET SENTENCES:
·
How is the weather today?
·
It’s rainy
·
It’s windy
·
It’s hot
·
It’s cold
·
It’s snowy
·
It’s sunny
·
It’s cloudy
·
Is it (sunny)? Yes, it is/No, it isn’t
STORY TIME:
“A funny day” story was
introduced to students via Smart Board and book activities.
DRAMA AND SPEAKING:
·
“A funny day” story was dramatized by students. They
repeated the lines of the characters and acted the story out.
·
“Playtime” activity started. During this activity
students pick their favorite toys from the classroom, they bring it to teacher
and they talk about the toy in English by using the language structures of the
year. This week “I have got…..” and “Do you like……?” structures were reviewed.
·
The drama of the year end show was practiced.
GAMES:
·
Teacher plays the Game CD of our book and students
play the games of the new “The Weather” unit as a warm up.
·
The online games to review and learn vocabulary were
played on Smart Board.
·
Teacher brings the new unit vocabulary flashcards. She
puts the cards on the floor face down and asks the students to find the cards
of the sentences she mentions.
·
Teacher selects a student to be her assistant. While
teacher shows one flashcard and asks the corresponding sentence, the assistant
listens and gives a “thumbs up” if his/her friend’s sentence is correct.
LISTENING:
Students watched the videos of the “My first English Adventure 2” CD.
SONGS:
·
Previous songs and the songs we will sing in the
year-end show were repeated.
